A Golf Course designed by 'Seve' Ballesteros WELCOME TO IZKI GOLF

This golf course, designed by the renowned Severiano Ballesteros, brings innovation to golf architecture. The design of its spectacular holes and open fairways, surrounded by oaks, beech and holly trees, make playing at Izki a unique experience to enjoy golfing and nature alike.

With the signature of a master

The extensive experience acquired by ‘Seve’ Ballesteros in international tournaments lead him to found Trajectory in 1986. This company has designed several golf courses around the globe, from Scotland to Japan, all conceived with the same personal philosophy, from both an environmental and game-strategy point of view. Seve has made these courses beautiful and highly-demanding for the players. Always aware of the environment, native species, and natural surrounds. A good example of this is Izki Golf, founded in 1994.

Hole by Hole

Professor notes

Hole 1 / Low difficulty

Short hole with a tee shot defended by a bunker on the left side. A good drive can take you to the green with a short iron for an easy par. MIssing the green to the left leads to a difficult recovery.

Hole 2 / The terrace

Located along a terrace sculpted from the hillside, this hole demands a long tee shot to reaching the green with the second, posing great difficulty to those players who leak their shot to the left.

Hole 3 / Tricky Forest

Long par 5, with trees on the right side, that can deveice you by hiding a fairway that is in reality quite wide. A good second shot easily leaves you at about 100 meters from the green.

Hole 4 / Hard

Initially designed as a par 5, its length makes it one of the most difficult holes to par on the course. Make your tee shot to the left to avoid the trees on the right, leaving a long shot to a green that is barely visible. Bogey is an acceptable result for this hole.

Hole 5 / Protected green

This is a highly strategic short hole, which requires you to leave the ball on the left side of the fairway to get a direct view of the slightly elevated green that dog legs to the right. A long iron or 5-wood tee shot allows you to reach the green using a mid or short iron for a good result.

Hole 6 / Elevated tee

Short, yet spectacular par-3 hole, with an elevated tee box and a large green. Well defended at the front and right side by two bunkers, a mid or short iron will putt the ball on the green to get your game on par.

Its length and elevated green make this hole really difficult. However, its wide-open green allows for long shots.

Hole 8 / No bunkers

For the big hitters, there is an opportunity to reach the green in two, wich is defended by a stream just across the front of the green. For the mid-level player, the strategy is simple: hit the second shot short of the water to leave a wedge to the green to get an easy par. Trying to approach the green in two might mean serious trouble to save par.

Hole 9 / A true challenge

The longest par 3 in the course. The out-of-bounds area on the right side and an elevated green demand a long, yet precise shot that leaves little margin for error when aiming towards the left side.

Hole 10 / Surrounded by woods

Since this is a narrow hole, a long iron is the best club choice to reach the fairway, but this leaves you with a virtually blind shot to the green. If you are willing to run the risk at your tee shot, the benefit of aiming the fairway is that you will be allowed a clear vision of the green, and the second shot will be very short. A beautiful for both its scenery and technique, possibly the most strategic hole.

Hole 11 / The big chance

Short and without any complications. This par 4 represents the first clear chance to recover a shot. A wide fairway to receive your drive and second short stroke make this par an easy hole for everyone.

Hole 13 / Gorgeous and original

Without a doubt, the most spectacular of all 18 holes for having three platforms separated by two banks. The mid-level players should aim for the first platform to then reach the green with a second stroke, and the higher handicap players should go from platform to platform o avoid the banks. A unique hole, like no other.

Hole 16 / Full of bunkers

Impressive par 4 with a view to Mount Alavesa and a tee box that is well defended by four bunkers, two on each side. A fifth bunker near the entry to the green makes it difficult to make it in just two shots. The average player should play before this bunker to make an easy par.
